Nanna and Jørgen Ditzel 1950 created an unusual bowl-shaped seat instead of a basket suspended from a light oak frame, achieving a chair design that fused the seat and back into a bowl with a coherent shell shape distinguished by being organic in its form and also in its materials. The use of handcrafted materials and careful skill in crafting the rounded shape and clean lines of the chair give off a sense of comfort and luxury in a seat that allows for a wide variety of positions.
